Gas Prices Around the World

Category: GasTags: , , ,

Although gas prices in the U.S. have been high in recent years, it might put things into perspective to compare current gas prices on a global level. Europeans pay more than twice as much as Americans per gallon. The countries with natural oil resources, however, pay next to nothing with less than ten percent of the U.S. prices per gallon.

As a new yorker i have to question these numbers, i haven’t seen 2.85 gas since march of last year
In fact i filled up today for 3.37 a gallon. You guys need to update your numbers before you post something that doesn’t even pass the smell test.

Does not look accurate. How much of those amounts account for taxes imposed the particular country? Make a map whic does not have these taxes and the map will appear more accurate. However it appears you just took this graphic from another website anyway…

Hmmm its what it cost us not what it costs in Europe. Stupid article Our prices are rising fast and funnily now that there is a democrat running the country there is no outcry, no media coverage about outrageous gas prices and the illegal raping profits by oil companies. Because we all know that its market forces….. so lets not worry about it being a political issue cause it will make your bro int eh W.house look bad.
if you cant write a decent article go get a real job…oh you cant cause real unemployment is over 12 %.

Great posts, and I love the graphics. I agree though, we are still paying pretty cheap prices when you look at the rest of the world. I think things might start to get worse though before they get better. Please keep up the great posts.

3.81 and i’ve seen 3.99 here in Baltimore MD. i bought a HD last year to lower my gas bill of 3-400 a month…… now instead of $40-45 every 3-4 days i spend $8-12 at the pump

We live near the Buffalo New York boarder and in Canada were paying just over $5.00/Gal while across the boarder Americans are paying on average $3.80/Gal or cheaper… It’s on average $30.00 per fill up cheaper to own a pickup truck in the States… You don’t hear Canadians grumbling.

What this article and other articles fails to mention is a gallon of gas was $4 per gallon when a barrel of oil was $140. We are paying about $4 per gallon now and a barrel is only $100. I think much of this is due to our high debt which destroyed the value of our dollar. A dollar today buys you less than it did 3 years ago, especially when it comes to imports like oil. You can blame the higher gas prices on Obama for destroying our dollar. Wait until a barrel goes back up to $140. Based on simple math we cold be paying $5.50 per gallon. Get ready for another recession if this happens.

Jason10 yrs or so March 28, 2012 at 11:17 am

Doesn’t matter that a Dem is in office, as a few of you pointed out. Gas prices were high when Bush was in office as well. Not to mention it’s getting closer to summer when they always go up. Europe has been paying almost double what we pay for at least the last 10 yrs or so. They say its based on supply and demand, remember all those emails you used to get about not buying gas on a certain day. Maybe if people actually tried that, or even just NOT driving when you dont need to, prices might come down some. Instead of driving half a mile to the store, get off your lazy butt and walk!! Lots of little things you do can conserve gas……think about it!
