Transportation in the Recession: How People are Adapting

Given the current economic climate, we are all looking for ways to cut back on our daily expenditures. For many Americans, commuting to and from work, as well recreational transportation is a significant budget item. Fortunately, it is also one that can be easily reduced with a bit of creativity and some commitment. A number of prevalent factors have made car ownership and use a less desirable, and often less plausible solution to the transportation conundrum. We took a closer look at the situation in the auto industry, why it is on the decline, and some of the other options commuters are employing to save cash.

  2. In a way, this is not so bad. Maybe the air quality in some of our cities will begin to improve again. I always thought that Americans drive too much, particularly those who live in big cities where public transportation is available and where stores, friends’ houses and other destinations are relatively easily accessible by public transit, by walking or by bicycling.
