The Nexus One will be featured with the Google Android OS 2.1, and, unlike the other Android phones on the market, the user experience was ENTIRELY designed by Google. The phone will be unlocked, available for purchase through Google online and you’ll have to provide cellular service of your own.
Now the rumors are swirling as to when the phone will be launched, but there is speculation that it will be available in January 2010.
Update! Some minor specs according to other reports:
– Qualcomm Snapdragon 1 GHz ARM CPU
– High resolution OLED display
– Around $500 USD
– GSM with possibility of UMTS (3G) on AT&T and T-Mobile
– Voice-to-text dictate feature
– Capacitive touch screen & on-screen keyboard

Highly unlikely they would go with AT&T. My guess is they’ll roll with their newfound pal, Verizon.
If only Chrismas was next month.
If it’s GSM then it won’t be Verizon as they are CDMA.
They’re actually releasing this phone with no carrier partner.
How is this a google branded phone?

Read there will be both GSM and CDMA versions… but who knows since it is all rumor still. I will never switch to AT&T for ANY phone!
wow. i’m amazed by people’s ability to READ THE ARTICLE.
it’s unlocked. stop talking about carriers.
I hope it goes to T-Mobile as they were the 1st one to give Google and the Android platform a try, ya know?
Unlocked doesn’t mean you can use it with any carrier, unless it is also capable of using every carrier’s network, which it isn’t. It’s GSM, at least the version we’re hearing about.
wow. i’m amazed by hahaha’s ability to UNDERSTAND HOW PHONE NETWORKS WORK.
stop talking like you know everything if you really don’t.
The Nexus One will work with AT&T, just not AT&T 3G at the current time. They are working on a version that is compatible with Verizon, due out in the spring, as well as a EU version compatible with Vodafone. All of this I got from http://www.google.com/phone
